This was a team project that I worked on over the course of 3 days during the 2025 CAVE JAM at MMU. Working together with three other students we created this short looping animation with the theme of 'Repetition'.
The animation is presented from a first-person perspective and reflects the monotony of a repetitive work cycle. What begins as a familiar routine of clocking in transforms into a sense of being locked in.
This theming is reinforced visually through the transformation between each room introducing more horror elements.
The text explains this theme with the machine on the right changing from 'clock in' to 'lock in' and the poster changing from "stay hooked on life" to "stay hooked".
The environment also reflects this change, with the entrance door and the exit door being positioned centrally to emphasize how much easier it feels to keep moving forward through the routine than to actively choose to leave the cycle.
The final room shows the most drastic change, where the exit door is broken and a creature crawling through it. This is meant to reflect how strange, infantile and monstrous people who try leaving the cycle can begin to look from the perspective of someone stuck in this loop.
The final front door is also shown as a large mouth, symbolizing the act of willingly allowing oneself to be consumed by the cycle. The loop then restarts, reinforcing the endless repetition of the cycle.
