In this unit, I developed two shots focused on integrating CG assets into live-action footage.
Both shots used footage sourced from Pexels, which was tracked and composited in Nuke.
The first shot extends an existing rock formation with CG and introduces a portal effect. The rock and particle simulation were created in Houdini, while the environment beyond the portal was built in Unreal Engine using Fab assets.
The second shot features a FLIP water simulation in Houdini, with procedurally generated buildings. Additional assets, including the windmill and boat, were modelled in Maya.
Overall, I am happy with the outcome of both shots and feel they present strong integration work. If revisiting the project, I would refine aspects of the village modelling, as the assets were created quickly in Houdini to achieve the overall look and do not hold up as well in close detail. However, as a whole, the shots are successful and visually effective.
