This project is my synoptic piece, created as part of my dissertation, focusing on developing a full VFX pipeline workflow.
The shot involved creating and integrating a CG creature (based on a red panda) into live-action footage, covering modelling, sculpting, rigging, animation, grooming, and compositing. The process was documented throughout, highlighting development, iteration, and problem-solving.
The breakdown showcases both the asset creation and its integration into the final shot.
The strongest aspects of the project to me are the model, texturing, and first integration shot. The animation and second shot are less resolved, particularly in terms of motion and integration.
Overall, this project was a valuable learning experience. While I explored tools such as ZBrush, Nomad Sculpt, and Houdini grooming, the scope became too ambitious for the timeframe. I am glad of what I learned and managed to achieve but in the future a more focused approach would have allowed for a stronger final result.
